Birders,
Yesterday afternoon as we were getting ready to leave the house and I was
about to pull the car out of the garage, every bird at our feeders took off
in a panic and great flurry of wings. I then saw a large accipiter
approaching the yard from the north. I first thought a juv female Coop
Lots of migrant/winter influx activity today at Grandview Cemetery in Fort
Collins (Larimer).
Highlights included:
Red Crossbill (at least 30 flying in small flocks this way and that, mostly in
spruce, sometimes in Douglas-fir, occasionally in American Elm (I think the
latter is either a site
There was a nice mixed flock of warblers at Snakeskin Picnic Area below the dam
at Pueblo Reservoir this morning. They ranged from the bridge at the picnic
area to the parking lot just west of there. Included were:
Prothonotary warbler
Tennessee warbler
Townsend's warbler
Wilson's warbler
Yel
I have been stopping by Grasmere Lake, the southern water body in
Washington Park, at Downing and Louisiana, almost daily for a couple of
weeks, counting American White Pelicans as their numbers grow - from 4 to
21, now plateauing around 19-21.

I arrived at sunrise (about 6:30) where Curtis Road turns to Drennan Road. Just
to the south, I had 3 adult Baird's Sparrows within 45 minutes before reaching
the 90-degree bend in Drennan. I then drove the distance to Hemmingway and
back. On the way back, I thought that I had ju
Chris Owens, Dick Schottler, Dean Shoup, Kathy Mihm-Dunning and I birded NE
Colorado today and we were able to re-find the Buff-breasted Sandpiper on
Weld County Road 105 north of the Morgan County line. Photos are at the

Also found at this location was a nice Savannah Sparrow (photos
