I saw 2 Mountain Plover north of Hanover Road about 0.7 miles east of Milne
Road this afternoon about 1 PM. They were in the vicinity of a prairie dog
colony and there were also 2 Burrowing Owls that flew when I got out of my car.
The Plovers stayed about 75 yards from the road making

Last weekend I was gardening and noticed our Ribes aureum flowers were
just opening in our garden. These are usually our indicator plants.
On Monday I was pretty sure I heard a BT hummer but never saw it so went
ahead and put out our feeders. Today Joel says that there were at least
On this blustery windy cold day about 3 this afternoon, Urling stopped at
McClain Pit (half a mile South of Colo 86 on Castlewood Canyon Rd - Franktown)
and spotted bunch of Bonaparte's Gulls - I counted a dozen. They gracefully
skimmed along the water dipped uo and down to pick up
Walker Pit or Walker Pond, is changing daily as far as birds go. On 4/1, I
stopped by the pond and I saw 5, Bufflehead, 6, Northern Shoveler, 4,
Green-winged Teal, 2, American Widgeon, 3, Gadwall, and 8, Greater Scaup. No
Lesser Scaup were seen here, or several days ago, when I saw Greater
On March 31 and on 4/1, I had 1, Lincoln's Sparrow, and on 3/31, I had my first
Common Grackle . Both were in my yard which is across the road from the Denver
Water Department.
On 3/31, I saw one Turkey Vulture flying east from the intersection of
Belleview Ave. and Wadsworth Blvd.

This morning on the way to the dog groomer, Marjorie Jannotta alerted me to
four Turkey Vultures perched in willows at 95th and Lake Meadow Drive in
Lafayette. They appeared to be wondering what happened to the thermals.
In past years, I've frequently seen them at this spot in April.

3 Grackles showed up yesterday in west Longmont, just behind Blue Mountain
Elementary. They weren't there this morning.
