head out there for some birding this weekend. I'll be glad for updates
throughout this week from anyone who is in the area.

After spending from about 9am to 2:30pm refinding, losing, refinding, losing
the Lucy's Warbler at Eaton Cemetery today, I went east on CR74 thru Galeton
and Cornish Ponds to 392 and then north to Briggsdale. Nothing notable at
Cornish Ponds except for Black-necked Stilts and Wilson's Phalarope
David Wade and I searched for almost 2 hrs before spotting the Lucy's Warbler

Other goodies present were the continuing Red-eyed Vireo, Cassin's Kingbird,
Common Poorwill, Broad-winged Hawk and best of all, a nightha
A Tricolored blackbird was reported in La Plata County on ebird. The reason
this is unlikely is if indeed one showed up in Colorado it would be highly
unlikely for it to show up with returning red-winged blackbirds. They are
basically sedentary populations. If one were to arrive here it would be
Driving home from Elbert on 5/11 I stopped at Walker Gravel Pit at
Franktown DOU and enjoyed an alternate plumaged *Black Tern*.
Early this morning (5/12) flocks of warblers, *Spizella* sparrows, and some

I had an amazing day at Elbert County yesterday May 5. Weather was
fantastic (mostly calm and sunny or partly cloudy), and I think the timing
after the recent snow storm and days of rain was fortuitous. There was
water everywhere out there. Ponds, ponds and more ponds (most without any

I too had the Black-headed Grosbeak come back to my backyard feeder Monday

The Saturday before my finals and Mike McCloy’s field season started seemed
like the perfect time to try a midnight to midnight big day as part of

COBirders,
I found an adult male Baltimore Oriole in the northwest corner of Sinton
Pond park at about 1:30 pm today. It was favoring the scrub around the edge

Just south of the small pond, near the odd assortment of conifers, there

Yesterday morning, there were at least 4 Violet-green Swallows flying

My FOS Broad-tailed hummers were at my feeder Saturday, just hours before
the snow hit. They were back at the nectar on Sunday.
This morning, my FOS Bulloc
Hello All
A key point is that the Lucy's was singing frequently around noon today.
I was there yesterday around 10AM, and on several occasions, from the correct
spot, thought I heard a Lucy's Warbler. Since I couldn't find the bird, I
thought I was just hallucinating, but probably not

Hi COBirders,
Finally a break in the weather, and passable roads. Banding was slow and steady
this morning. the highlight was a M Virginia's Warbler, but also banded seven
Yellow Warblers, so there must have been some kind of push.
Fun to discover were two Yellow Warblers, banded in the same s

The bird was first seen in the original tree as described by Dave in his

A male Calliope Hummingbird visited one of our feeders this morning.
And for a stark contrast in size, yesterday afternoon a Wild Turkey hen
spent a few hours on our deck, adjacent to the hummingbird feeder.

Looks like my backyard is becoming a migrant trap. Sitting at my desk working
this morning when I heard a yellow-rumped warbler chip. Went outside to find a
small flock of them along with a Tennessee warbler.

So, yesterday I finished with 122 species just birding Crow Valley, Eaton
Cemetery and Stewarts' Pond/Latham/Beebe Draw and finishing my day at 3:30. 130
would have been pretty easy to attain.
And this was with only 4 warbler and 1 vireo species.
