I found a number of first of the year (FOY) birds for Canon City along the
Canon City Riverwalk today including a male Rose-breasted Grosbeak and
possibly a female with him, but both were at the tip top of a 60+ ft tall
cottonwood so could not get good view of her (or pics). FOY Lazuli

Three Blue Jays were screaming today east side of Lake Waconda in Perry
Park. First I have seen here and this high. Also FOS Western Tanager along
with the usual feeder birds - Goldfinches, Pine Siskins, both Chickadees, C
Grackles, RW Blackbirds, Spotted Towhees, D Woodpecker, and more.

We had another day of good variety for the many families visiting today for
Audubon's annual Mother's Day brunch with the birds. Not quite as many
species as yesterday, but between new, repeats and returns came up with 15
species. Especially exciting for us was catching Swallows - Violet-green

spring) at Lamar Community College grove in Prowers County, early this
afternoon, before a Lamar thunderstorm began. Finally a few different

Today I went up to Pawnee National Grassland and the surrounding area. At
Briggsdale there were 3 *Mountain Plovers *in the fields along Lee St. and
79. At Crow Valley a *Barn Owl *flushed from a stand of junipers, and there
was a *Broad-winged Hawk *circling. There was a *Virginia's Wa
Bay-breasted warbler is about 50yds down the right fork with Yellow-rumped
Warblers. Also a Screech Owl and Black-throated Gray Warbler.

Was happy to see both a FOS Yellow-breasted Chat and a FOS Green-tailed
Towhee Sunday morning 5/8/16, east of the Chautauqua Auditorium in Boulder.
Plenty of Spotted Towhees, House Wrens and Broad-tailed Hummingbirds are
back now too.

is about 20-30 yards from the river on the east side of the path.

Either the same Worm-eating Warbler remains below the CU Boulder Rec Center
this morning, or another has arrived to take its place. The bird was
foraging and calling near the footbridge nearest Folsom this morning,
loosely associating with chickadees and Yellow Warblers.

Hello Fellow Birders,
Well! Yesterday morning (Saturday) I reported hearing a Spotted Towhee
in my yard near Holly & Arapahoe the previous evening. Later in the day I
was planting stuff in my little townhouse yard and noticed two towhees
gleaning under the bird feeders not 15 feet awa
Had a black-throated gray warbler stop in my yard yesterday for a few brief
moments. Also, on Friday, western tanagers, plumbeous vireo, and Virginias
warblers had returned to Horsetooth Mountain Park.
