This evening (8/17), I visited Marjorie Perry Nature Preserve in Greenwood
Village (Arapahoe) for a short walk. During the hour before sunset and
through dusk, I picked up my first mosquito bites & Lark Sparrows at the

Just today I had an Easter Phoebe actively foraging in a stand of bleached
cottonwoods just south of the Community Park in the town of Louisville, CO.
Other birds of note included something near 60 Common Nighthawks (Paula
Hansley reported them as well), Calliope Hummingbirds two days
7:30 PM: At least 50 Common nighthawks have flown over my house in the last 15
minutes! They are still coming from the north but in much smaller numbers.

Banding at Clear Spring Ranch today was mostly slow, but I did catch a Hatch
Year Northern Waterthrush around 10:00. This is the third one this season here
(and 43rd in the last two years!).
Most everybody else took the day off.

It was hard to get work done yesterday (8/16) from home, as my backyard was
filled with birds. The day started, over breakfast, with two hummers
chasing each other around my patio feeder, as my wife, dog, and I watched.
