Greenlee Preserve & environs, Boulder County, was birdy this rainy
Thursday, May 3. Grounded migrants included Blue-gray Gnatcatcher,
Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Orange-crowned, MacGillivray's, Yellow, Myrtle, and
Audubon's warblers, and Chipping, White-crowned, Vesper, and Lincoln's
At 4:00 p.m. today, I happened to look outside the upstairs window and, to
my surprise, a group of 27 Franklin's gulls were winging north towards
Clement Park! It was a really cool sight - a new yard bird!

A Hermit Thrush, Wilson's Warbler, and Green-tailed Towhee have all hung
out in my Centennial (Arapahoe) yard through the recent rain. This
afternoon, when the sky cleared, the Green-tailed Towhee began to sing! A
nice addition to the Spotted Towhees songs.

The N. Cardinal was singing today just west of 16th street between Kalmia
Ave. and Jennine Ct. (to the south). This area is just north of the little
league baseball fields at 16th and Iris,and 2 blocks south of Melody Park.
He was present between 1245 and 1255 before moving on, direction

I am glad to announce a trip to Irian Jaya or western New Guinea for the
June 2019. The beginning date is June 6. We will have experienced local
guides. The length of the trip will be determined by the wishes of the
participants.

Taking shelter under a pavilion at Wheat Ridge Greenbelt to send this. Not much
diversity yet, but there are at least 300 warblers along the river and I've
only walked a half mile. Lots and lots of birds! Almost all yellow rumps so far
with a few yellow and one western tanager.

Not many migrants were banded today at Clear Spring Ranch, but an FOS Northern
Waterthrush showed up about 9:00. Photo below.

and a pair of Wood Ducks sitting about 40’ up in a cottonwood.
