An unseasonal alternate plumaged Franklin’s Gull was at Aurora Reservoir this
afternoon on our DFO field trip. It is at the far SE corner at the the only
open water, with about 5000 other gulls.

Rosy-Finches at their feeders. In a photo they sent me, they were all
Gray-crowned.

Hi all
Another great weather day for "raptoring" on Saturday, this time on our
annual Colorado State University Field Ornithology club outing with a few
others. We saw a total of 57 raptors:
- Golden Eagle - 6
- Ferruginous Hawk - 7
- UNID Buteo - 3
- American Kestrel - 13
- Prai
A hatch year *Northern Shrike* just made a long anticipated visit to my
front yard area near Massey Draw in Ken Caryl Valley, perching for a short
time in an aspen before moving on. Northern Shrike is rare at Ken Caryl
Valley (I have 7 sightings in 6 years here), Both shrikes are on the yard
list n

Managed to take a low-quality photo before it flew away. What a privilege
to see such a powerful and inspiring bird!

About 1/4 mile east along the Clear Creek trail from the Youngfield parking
lot, I heard and saw a Ruby-crowned Kinglet and Yellow-rumpled warbler foraging
across the creek near the ground. Near this place, several of us also saw a
small flock of tree sparrows.
