Persistence paid off and today I saw two juve Sabine's Gulls on Smith
Reservoir today. There may have been a third too. But the darn birds were
very flighty (duck hunting season?) and would not fly close for a quality
pic. I tried to tell them is was a camera, not a gun! They did noty listen!

The Thick-billed Kingbhrd put on a show for me this afternoon at 4:40 pm at the
eBird “TBKI Stakeout” location near Mack CO. It announced its presence with
vocalizations and posed for photos atop a shrub with purple leaves.

Fire and rain and almost no birds was the story of yesterday.
We arrived at the station to find that someone or something had started a
fire on the wood platform where we process birds and do our education
programs. Luckily the rare three days of moisture prevented the fire from
