This morning a sagebrush sparrow made a brief appearance at our house north of
Boulder. Snatched a few seeds from the feeder station, and then did its little
raised-tail scamper off and away. Nice house bird.

Broadtails--just one or two
females the last few days. And THEN JUST AT DUSK TODAY a male Ruby-throated
Hummingbird appeared. Same shape as the Black-throated, long bill, red gorget,
straight wingtips.

afternoon--4 males, 9 females, in bright plumage, males with full rosy wash
over the back. As many Cassins as I can ever remember seeing at once.

The jaeger flew in to the middle of the reservoir from the east about 8:30 this
morning. I watched it sitting on the water for about 10 minutes. Then it flew
off to the south. I thought it might have stopped at six-mile, but it wasn't
there when I checked about 15 minutes later.

Absent the middle of the day, the w-w dove was back on the power line at 3:30.
3 1/2 miles north of Boulder, off US 36, at south end of 34th Court to the
west, with 4 or 5 collared doves.

A white-winged dove was sitting briefly on the power line above the end of 34th
Court (off Nebo Rd), N Boulder Co, at 10 am this morning. Nice addition to our
house list. It may still be in the neighborhood, but I haven't been able to
relocate it. If it reappears, I'll post it again.
Today a bright male Cassin's finch and at least one female made several
appearances at our feeders. A shy female Evening Grosbeak was also present. The
Harris's sparrow, which was still around yesterday, was not seen today.

of the few visitors to Jackson Lake not to spot a buff-bellied sandpiper, when
just as I was returning to the parking lot, this bird appeared, very
cooperatively allowing extensive close views.

Today a white-crowned sparrow was foraging in our N. Boulder yard with
finches, juncos, and siskins. That is the third white-crowned that has
turned up here this fall. This one appears to be a tan-striped adult.

An adult white-throated sparrow was working the brush piles in our
yard, N. Boulder county, this afternoon. The flock of a dozen or more
western bluebirds that have been around the last two weeks were absent
yesterday and today.
