A Yellow-bellied Sapsucker visited my seed cylinder feeder at least twice
today. New to me, I immediately noticed it as something I hadn't seen
before. Bigger than a Downy, smaller than a Flicker. It was fluffed up due
to cold temps. So fun to see, especially on my FeederWatch bird counting
It’s very fun to watch them jet around and navigate getting twigs through
birdhouse holes. We have one front and back that are both being used. The
House Wrens sing their loud, bubbly songs early morning and throughout the day.
I hope they raise families!

I'm super excited to have seen a male Lazuli Bunting at my seed feeder this
afternoon, just long enough for me to grab binoculars and see it clearly
before it flew away. I've never even seen one before! The next bird that
visited was a female Red-Winged Blackbird which I've seen before but
I found your article and recording fascinating. Thank you for sharing!!

second time in the seven years I’ve had feeders. So it was fun to see your
post this morning.

Though I won't be able to drive by until tomorrow, it's great to see a post
about Arvada, my part of town. I drive by that location often and would
love adding Brant to my life list. Thanks for the post.

Don't you love seeing first time visitors at your feeder? I do! This
morning a pair of Evening Grosbeak visited. This was also the first time
I've seen this bird. They're molting into their winter plumage so looked
very mottled.

My husband and I were there on Saturday, too! It was only our 2nd visit and
were quite excited to see a few Bald Eagles in one of the lakes and at
least 25 roosting in a huge tree far enough away that it took binoculars to
identify them. We were so grateful that someone pointed us to the
Late Monday afternoon, I spotted Wood Ducks in a little pond at the park
across the street from Echter's Greenhouse on Garrison St. in Arvada. I
thought there were 3 or 4 pairs until I studied my pictures and counted at
least 6 pairs. This is only my second sighting, and the first was a pair in
Took a walk at Standley Lake Regional Park in Westminster last evening and
saw a Bullock's Oriole building a nest in a large tree along the canal
path. Being a fairly new birder, it was my first sighting.
