I'm still amazed at how yellow that little guy is...year round. I'm also
amazed at how some of you folks are able to spot these birds. Great find.

So, after literally 7 failed attempts (6 at Chatfield and one up in
Loveland) to see the Brandt, my son and I finally had success today. There
was a tip that he was seen at Redstone Park in Highlands Ranch. Sure
enough, we were able to walk right up to the little fellow late this
afternoon.
After 7 unsuccesful tries to locate the Brant (6 in Chatfield, 1 in
Loveland), my son and I finally got a tip on the Brant location. Sure
enough. He was at Redstone Park in Highlands Ranch. The furthest south
baseball field next to the houses. We were able to walk right up to the
flock and
So, my son and I were finally able to spot the Brant earlier this week in
Redstone park, after seven fruitless trips. Today, my son and I took a quick
swing through Chatfield to see what was happening.
Right as we were leaving the south entrance of the park, we both said at the
same time...t
at times?
I am not that good with the identification of sparrows yet!

My son and I found the northern parula at the greenbelt today. Also a blue
gray gnatcatcher a yellow warbler of note. North side of river east of
Prospect Park footbridge.

Eastern Phoebes are cool and all...but not cool enough to fight him for the
prime spot on the bridge. Since it was only almost noon, my teenage son
who usually joins me was still sleeping. Must be rough.

I don't know much about swan behavior but having it stay in the same small
largely iced-over pond for 30 days seems odd. Don't they usually pass through
in a few days at most?
Just curious if anyone has thoughts or has experienced such an extended stay
from a single bird?

Thanks to tips from other birders in this group, I was able to see the
Black Phoebe up Waterton this afternoon. He landed a few feet away. Also,
went to Drennan Rd in El Paso and saw a few cool things like a Northern
Mockingbird, Swainson's, etc. Photos can be seen at

I spotted a lone glossy ibis in a tiny little marsh area on pleasant park rd
after high grade. Right off the side of the road. Great views and confirmed
dark eye color.

I just saw 8 incredible Sandhill Cranes in the plum Creek nature area at

I was able to find several Red-eyed Vireos and Redstarts yesterday, both in
the same location. As some others have noted, about a half a mile upstream
of Kingfisher bridge on the west side of the river. Specifically, the
Redstarts were in the trees right where the river almost floods the trail
Still continuing. Further west towards the Kettle Ave access point, took awhile
to find.
