Dick Filby and I did the mountain lakes loop today, weather was not as good as
Saturday but we had many good birds. We skipped Turquoise Lake and started at
Mount Elbert Forebay. The Surf Scoter was still present along a male and
female Barrow’s Goldeneye. The wind blew hard at Twin Lakes
Vic Zerbi just called to say he did not find the Painted Redstart in Eagle. He
says that Rebecca Brackett is knowledgeable about birds and is certain that
there was indeed a Painted Redstart that visited over the weekend. He searched

County today and spoke with folks at Rock Bottom Ranch. Regretably the
plegadis Ibis were no longer there and unfortunately the people at Rock
Bottom thought all dark ibis were Glossies so we really don't know. ACES is
Not a bad deal actually. I have always purchased a fishing license to cover
the cost of search and rescue if I ever fall off a cliff while searching for

Kay I visited the dry counties in search of waterfowl this weekend. As
always Cheyenne County was frustrating but we had pretty good luck
elsewhere.
