Saturday we visited Crow Valley Campground and were rewarded with 13 species of
warblers.
Townsend's, Pine, Blackpoll, Black and White, Tennessee, Northern Waterthrush
and Ovenbird
were among the notables. Most historically unexpected for us was a Spotted
Sandpiper.
Rose-breasted Grosbeak was
Hundreds of blackbirds. Hundreds Lark, Chipping, Vesper Sparrows.
50, or so, Lark Buntings and 50, or so, White-crowned Sparrows.
A few Brewer's Sparrows, one Green-tailed Towhee and one Lazuli Bunting.
Oddest was a Solitary Sandpiper on the path at the south end of the East boat
launch parking
At Walker Pit 10:00-11:00. Eurasian Wigeon was not present.
Greater White-fronted Goose was consolation.

morning at Big Johnson.
We did not refind the Lesser Black-backed Gull.

At about 3:00pm Dan Stringer and I discovered a female Hudsonian Godwit loosely
associated with the 40-50 ibis near the water at the edge of the meadow east of
Cottonwood Pond that's directly east of the model airplane field. Easiest way
in is to park at new restrooms around the turn from the
Pulling in to look for the Lesser Black-backed Gull I was surprised by a
Northern Mockingbird in the brush and on the fence just east of the road, first
brushy area.
Went on to see the Lesser Black-backed Gull. Two Long-tailed Ducks were still
present, as well.

Creek Reservoir.

While it took some patience both vireos were seen from the paved path at about
3:30.
After the scraped off area it's about 85-100 yards to a fallen log on the
right that Joe Roller has placed three sticks across.

I saw the Varied Thrush at 2:45 behind 3904 S Idalia, Aurora.
I spent most of my time on the still leafed-out apple tree in the southeast
corner but the thrush popped up in the bare tree on the north side of the yard.

Saw the White-winged Scoter on South Platte Reservoir at 1:30, or so. I
took the zig-zag path up from the middle parking lot after I didn't find it on
Eaglewatch Lake. Did not see the Surf Scoter today. Earlier at Chatfield the
Pomarine Jaeger was nibbling on what looked like a dead Ring-billed

At about 9:30am Lea Ann and I refound mom and nine baby Wild Turkeys foraging
in the grass at 5650 Greenwood Plaza Blvd. This is no more than a block, or

JB Hayes and I observed the Cassin's Sparrow at Chatfield this afternoon. I
heard a couple of Grasshopper Sparrows, as well. The Cassin's was more or less
on a line with the South Pay Station when looking WSW from the road that Glenn

We had a really good day doing the Spring Count at Cherry Creek State Park. We
tallied 86 species and over 1,900 individuals.
In the early morning we were inundated by all the expected swallows. They were
literally everywhere.
Among the good finds were a Common Loon, Over 35

At about 11:00am Friday I saw the Tricolored Heron at the previously described
location.
It was my first in Colorado since 1991. Thanks to all who posted the excellent

We went up CO-67 to Rampart Range Rd. and backtracked 0.3 miles. We pulled
across the highway and parked on a flat pullout next to a wood fence made up of
only two sections. Walking in along a electrical pole easement with many dead
trees to our left we came on an American three-toed

Shortly after spreading seed at a little after 7:15 about 45 Rosy-Finches came
in. Two Brown-capped, two Black and the rest were Gray-crowned, with about ten
Hepburn's among those. When I left about 9:00 there was still one Gray-crowned
feeding intermittently. The Curve-billed Thrasher,

were seen at the Trading Post feeders about 10:30 today.

I agree with your obsevations about the neck, chin and uniformity of the facial
design. I did not note the exact cap color. The rust on the sides of the neck
was bright, I did see that. Based on those things, I was hasty to call it a
juvenile. It was, based on your obsevation, more likely

A Palm Warbler, my first for the park, found me this morning on the east side
of
the Lake Loop towards the bike trail. It was mixed in with five or six
Black-capped Chickadees, a pair of Downies, an Orange-crowned Warbler, several
Yellow-rumps, Chipping, Vesper and a couple
Fall Count Cherry Creek SP Friday:
Of interest:
Juvenile Long-tailed Jaeger was found picking on the shore in the cove north of
the Swim Beach.
Nice mixture of Sanderling, four Pectoral, several Least and two Baird's
Sandpipers on the Southeast corner spit.
Four Red-necked Phalaropes pretty far
Dear Cobirders,
A fine birding day today in the rain sleet and spitting snow.
Among the highlights were one Wilson's Phalarope, 2 Least Sandpipers and 6
Semipalmated Plovers at the new wetlands.
At the now underwater spit in the southeast corner there were at least 60
