Just had a female dusky grouse at Sondermann Park in Colorado Springs. It
was on the path going north along the creek just before the second bridge.
Will post photos on CFO Facebook page.

The attack Dusky Grouse is still guarding the parking lot and area near the
Nature Center as of 3 PM today. I saw it with Dave Leatherman, his
grandson and Janeal Thompson.
Here are links to pictures:
I am hoping to visit the week starting May 18th from Ontario Canada and was
wondering if Dusky Grouse will still be fairly to find particularly in the
Black Canyon area Around Montrose/Gunnison at that time?
Thanks in advance

I visited Bobcat Ridge west of Fort Collins today and found a Northern
Mockingbird, FOY White-throated Swift, FOY Chipping Sparrow, FOY Pine
Grosbeak and located a Red-tailed Hawk's nest. A fine day in itself,
however, the jewel of the day was a displaying Dusky Grouse. I managed to

Hi all
I just took a call from visiting birders Mike and Lee from California,
currently at the Black Canyon, Gunnison. They were looking for Dusky Grouse

Pleased to report that Mike and Lee made their third attempt for Dusky

Well done for persevering!
Good birding all

Three juveniles crossed road to join mother, after much encouragement by her.
On 16 April, 2011 there was a Dusky Grouse at 8500 feet, 2 miles east
of the Boy Scout Camp off Rampart Range Road just north of the west
end of Queens Canyon in a steep draw. I flushed him. He flew to a
pine tree branch and just sat and looked at me. This are is nearly in

one chick. Saw some Prairie Falcons nesting along Bear Canyon Trail.

Hi everyone,
I just received a couple photos from a fellow CFO participant who lives in
Fort Collins. She took 2 pretty good pictures at close range through her
binos with her iPhone camera of what appears to me to be a Dusky Grouse at
Nix Natural Area, which is not far from downtown and near the
