Today I headed out to Weld County on a rainy/snowy and windy day. In one week,
there's a noticeable increase in birds. The Lark Buntings, Lark Sparrows, and
Bullock's Orioles have returned. Interestingly, as I drove a stretch along
CR89, I noticed three Swainson's Hawks in less than 1

Today I went up to Pawnee National Grassland and the surrounding area. At
Briggsdale there were 3 *Mountain Plovers *in the fields along Lee St. and
79. At Crow Valley a *Barn Owl *flushed from a stand of junipers, and there
was a *Broad-winged Hawk *circling. There was a *Virginia's Wa

It took me a few days to chase down these birds, but I followed up on the
Mountain Plover sightings from Mark Chavez (I believe on the 6th or 7th of
July).
In the same area, I found 3 Mountain Plovers, and I also found and
photographed a McCown's Longspur j
I visited the Poudre Trail along 35th Avenue in north Greeley and found:
mute swans, coots, horned grebes, belted kingfishers, bald eagles, canada
geese (min & max), snow geese (no ross), redheads, mallards, gb herons,
ringed-billed gulls, american wigeon, ring-necked duck, common goldeneye,
