I have started using Pickled Penguin... er... Precise Pangolin. The bug
is still present and still a show stopper. Kubuntu can not be used with
Compiz as long as panels do not appear.

A fix has actually been developed, and after what looks like a pretty
thorough testing phase, it's been merged - I imagine the holiday period
slowed things down a little (though this would ideally have all been
sorted before the holidays) - but it was a complicated issue to fix,
with nearly 2000

Not a compiz/unity bug. Maybe the theme engine can been involved too.

will the fix of smspillaz make it into 12.04 and is there a way to test

P.S., Just noticed that since assigning bindings via Compiz, they showed
up under Custom Shortcuts under System SettingsKeyboard as Move

Don't know if that's utterly obvious and expected or helpful, but in
case it's the latter, I figured I'd post it as well.

With compositing enabled, I guess there is not much to do - the problem
happens
due to the nature of compositing itself. When it is used, the windows do not
render directly to screen, but to an off-screen area. So the vsync is not

Bug exists for me since migration to 11.10; was able to assign key
bindings (viz., Ctrl + Alt + 1 to move to workspace 1) fine in 10.04.
Tried changing bindings through System Settings, none entered are
recognized.
N.B., was able instead to use Compiz Manager and enable Put to adjacent
viewport
Ok, now this is being touted as 5.0's new feature

Compiz add transparency to titlebar along with the panel

@Simon: Same for me: subsequent keypresses work as usual.
@Masternoob: smspillaz's fix is still under review. At the moment I am
not aware of any way to test it. It's too big (3436 lines) for me to
merge and upload it into my ppa since I am afraid of regressions with a
patch of this size,
Well, there is not an option for titlebar opacity in CCSM, which kinda
indicates that this is more of a bug, but even if that's a fact, I still
consider it more of a feature.
Anyway I am in favour of adding blur and making option in CCSM for titlebar
opacity

I vote for feature.
Obviously people might want to have different transparency levels for
the panel and titlebar. However the matching transparency levels look
good. Having the blur would improve readability of the titles etc.

And one. more thing: If this thing is to become a feature the windows
controls (e.g. close, minimize and maximize buttons) should *not* become
transparent.

I'm gonna chime in and say it's a bug. Doing this breaks the coherency
provided by the new titlebar and toolbar themes that blend together
really well.

If it's a feature, it's broken because of buttons (comment #13) and
because it looks really ugly with light themes (see the attached
screenshot; it looks bad when using, for example, Radiance).

Thinking of what @CassidyJames said and from pure design point of view I don't
consider transparent titlebars to be a good idea, because they break the
consistency with the window bellow them *BIG* time (Win 7, anyone). That means
even if this ... well whatever it is becomes a feature (gets

When Dash is open there are close/minimize/maximize buttons. Since
they're on the same background as window icons, they should look the
