I wanted to follow up on this issue. To refresh the collective memory
banks, I've included a couple of the original posts at the bottom of
this email (this was back in early December...). In brief, Outlook
Express only operated with Administrator privileges, and wouldn't

This is narrowing it down. A limited user cannot open the address book
while the Administrator can. The MS KB seems to address it here,
although this looks to be for Win 98/OE4:

Well, I'm making progress. Tried all suggestions w/o success but found
the root of the issue accidentally during the process. Outlook Express 6
only works when the user has administrative rights. OE6 gives error the

I checked the MS Knowledge Base and got some OE-related hits that
looked, well, interesting.

I have no use for OE address book either; that's just the error that
comes up when I try to send to write an email in OE.

I didn't read all the posts. The only remaining use I have for Outlook

Well, I assume that if you want Thunderbird to be your default email
program, try changing that entry and see what happens. Myself, I use
Outlook and Thunderbird, but have never used Outlook Express. The other
thought is to check Microsoft Updates and or Secunia Software Inspector

Outlook Express 6 is no longer operational. As a rule, I never choose to
use it (Thunderbird is default), but the Fuji Photo program insists on
using it in order to email photos. It was working fine last week but
since then I've upgraded to IE7 from IE6. The error I now get when
