No, no, no. There are very strict laws against discharging firearms
within x feet of a dwelling. You're no farther in the woods than I am
in Jefferson County, West Virginia, and nobody around here would stand
for that. There are very valid reasons not to allow this behavior.

In a word, no. FBI just released recent crime stats...crime/murder
down...gun ownership up. Gun ownership is the epitome of respect of law and
order and defense of ones own property.

Or, recycle that old analog TV and turn it into a white noise
machine. Tune it to just about any channel, set the volume to a
comfortable level and enjoy.

You mean in the morning recently? Probably just deer season. Depending
on your state, chances are they can't hunt on Sunday. And the season
doesn't last long. Regardless, I'm sure it's illegal to shoot close to
houses, so don't get a noisemaker; call the police! They will talk to
them.
What bother
It depends on where and what time of the season it is.
In Wisconsin I expected to hear gunshots from the Saturday before
Thanksgiving until the Sunday after Thanksgiving.
the 9 day rifle/shotgun deer hunting season.
Other than that it was only an occasional gunshot we heard.

move to the country can't sleep because of the chirping of birds, the

An ipod shuffle set on repeat and a white or pink noise audio file.

Haven't looked recently, but I've seen regular "music" CD discs for that
purpose. Just pop it into your CD player and set it on repeat.
Record or purchase an mp3 track with whatever sound you want and set it to
repeat on your iPod or favorite mp3 player, sitting in a docking station that

I've seen clock radios with noise built in. I noticed something
recently - our Walmart humidifier, on a fan level of 2/3, hums along
nicely and covers up a lot of noise. Of course, it's only useful in
winter.

Target/walmart both sell radio/white noise devices.
