My eyes quickly get tired of the videomode of the graphic installer, so
I tried the text-mode one. I see however that it lacks some
functionality of the former. E.g. in the expert mode the individual
package selection became impossible, it also seems to ignore my
'large-scale' selection.

There is a problem with the Beta. I have reported to QA and the packager
and I am awaiting an answer. I have seen a similar problem installing

I had this problem on a laptop. It needed frame buffer support and well it
just used the linux kernel and after I changed it over the the kernel with
frame buffer support the pcmcia service locks the laptop HARD!

There appears to be a problem with suspending to disk, well at least that what

As far as I knew this was setup using kcmlaptop (0.82-8mdk). My current setup is

No, the -p option tells to ask the specified file; not an ins
I use fmirror to mirror the distro to my harddisk (and update it regularly
with fmirror) and use autorpm to update it. autorpm will update one package at
a time, so when multiple packages need to be updated you'll need to go in and
do it yourself.
The nice thing about autorpm is that it runs ever
autorpm + local ftp

Where has wmdrake gone??? You know that script that generate
WindowMaker menus on the fly by searching what apps are installed and
the launches WindowMaker (wmaker). I think it was better than the
default menu that contains items that may not necessarily be installed.

Unfortunately, you are mistaken. The Change Log mailing list
announces only the release of source. It has NOTHING directly to do
with the contents of Cooker. That latter process is not transparent

I downloaded the base and mdkinst trees from sunsite.
Because I only have a 56k modem,I used my own custom RPMS
tree (mainly from MDK 7.0). The making of depslist, hdlist,
mdkinst_stage2 all worked out fine. Burned it onto a CD.
