Hi,
I just network-installed Cooker from rpmfind.net and ran into a couple of
annoying bugs.
1. I selected Ukrainian locale during the install and everything was fine,
until I started X. Everything was displayed in Ukrainian, but using Western
charset. That make it very hard to read. Console fonts

Greetings, when you install Xfree86 4.0 during Mandrake installation and
setup everything no matter what it makes a link in /etc/X11 to the
3.3.6. This caused me a lot of trouble getting quake 3 to work :)
also now that I have Xfree86 4.0 up and running, when I try and load

After package selection, the dialog disappeared and it was about a minute
before the next dialog appeared. Perhaps a sim

It seems to be worng path to killall in /etc/logrotate.d/syslog
It tries to run /sbin/killall -HUP syslogd, but the only killall I have is
in /usr/bin

could copy stuff to.

Hello
I was wondering if anyone could helpI can't get my LS-120 drive to
work in my system after I enable ide-scsi for my ATAPI CD-RW (it's an HP

I like to reebuild the Xfree-4 rpm by my self but it asks for Glide_SDK
and I can't find it anywhere. (not in contrib where I found
XFree86-4.0-6mdk.src.rpm or in the cooker dir)
Does anyone know where to find Glide_SDK ?

I would know if howtos will be on the first CD. It will be a great idea.

How do I set the premission for the swap?

I have done a upgrade of XFree 3.3.6 and 4 and of netscape.
Now netscape says there is an undefined function in libXt provided by xfree
3.3.6. I have tried to install netscape-128 but I nedd to upgrade
compat-glibc and the 5.3-2.0.7.6 gives me an error of cpio when trying to
unpack.

here are the rpms promised for licq and gtk cvs copies, there are no
rpms for the extra stuff that is included in the main .81 package I saw
no need.

Hi,
I just made a boot disk via mkbootdisk.
The contained initrd did not include reiserfs
support. Because reiserfs in on my root partition
this is real bad. I had to copy my own
/boot/initrd to the disk to be able to boot
my system with this boot disk.

The /usr/share/gnome/hints/panel.hints file has a typo on line 125:

This causes this hint in Italian to appear in English locale

Hello,
I'm using a logitech trackball which has really nice drivers and
software for windows, but according to the company, Linux just isn't
worth supporting. Anyway, there's a really nice feature called 'smart
move' that whenever you open a window, etc., the cursor automatically

to get this setup going? I need something like; what /dev/ to use, what

Hi,
what about putting the GPLed network printing solution CUPS into Linux
Mandrake (does not need to be 7.1 necessarily). It makes the
administration and usage of printers much easier, especially one can
make use of all features of PostScript printers without M$ Windows
drivers. And one can all

Hello,
You could just leave xfs running as well ! I don't use xfs (I appear to have
more True Type fonts than it can handle), I use xfstt. As you say WP uses
fonttastic, and is happy to launch it / use it (if you start it via 'ntsysv')
with xfstt or xfs running. Even so, I think you'll still get

I have no problems with the new 3.0-4mdk version.
In fact I think the problems
smpeg seems not to work.
I get Fatal signal: Segmentation Fault (SDL Parachute Deployed)
if I use the --novideo flag.
And If I try to watch a movie I can't get any sound.

How difficult is it to remove a single character in such an important
