Hi,
since the last few updates of the last 3 days
(I don't know exactly which rpm is responsible)
I have big problems with XFree and ALL window-managers.
There is nothing which works as expected (and like befor).
Here is a capture from the .xsession-errors, which maybe can tell
something

This seems to happen periodically - as I recall, the last time it was

This mess is still the case.

I'd say that either kde is compiled to use some features
which are missing from the X server you are using,
or that your X config isn't correct...
Maybe check the server against the hardware?

I use the the XFree 3.3.6 because my system is a Thinkpad
and I don't got the XFree 4.0 working like expected.
Anyway, until now all works well,
so I think somethink must be changed or there is a new bug.
rpm -qa |grep XFree
XFree86-100dpi-fonts-4.0.2-1mdk
XFree86-SVGA-3.3.6-19mdk
It seems that xfs crashes too frequently on 4.0.2. I still didn't manage
to do some trace on it, but on the pre builds it seemed to have some
trouble with TTF fonts.

Hello Pedro,
I was having this problem the way I fixed it was to go into all
directories for truetype fonts and edit the fonts.dir to change all
the -ascii-0 iso-8859-1 this fixed the problem for me.

Hmmm... no problems here... it compiles fine (on both my alpha and
ix86).
