You do provide a good datapoint for the Mandrake mutt
rpmdrake will also download and install dependencies,
whereas kpackage (package manager) will just kick out
with an error message. Also, kpackage creates a new
window for every file it downloads which can interfere

Ok, well so far i have updated Xfree864.20mdk-1 to mdk-2, koffice and
various utilities. the Program explains decencies in the info package
and tells you which dependencies haven't been satisfied. But aside from
that, could i just update an entire system from an ftp server by simply

result, only way to get box booted was to use fail safe. Manual use of

Suspend has always locked mine up also. However with
APIC it also locks up with the ones I mentioned below.
This is particularly troublesome because of how close
the Ctrl and Fn keys are. When doing general desktop
switching, a simple keystroke mistake can hard freeze
the laptop now.
