hum, this is a not so easy bug to fix since boot config files:
-can be altered by users or other tools
-do not have field for default acpi is on/off, ...

Still the same problem.
/etc/sysconfig/bootsplash has THEME=Mandrake
I used /usr/share/bootsplash/scripts/switch-theme Mandrake
and mkinitrd /boot/initrd-2.4.22-10mdk.im
