I have the same problem with 23mdk, and the last tmb kernel.
Doesn't work with reiserfs... kernel panic, can't find init.
Works fine with XFS or ext3.

That's odd.
My laptop has no parallel port, but acpi runs fine on it.
In fact, the parport module is loaded all the time without problems.

Okay, seems the problem was that printerdrake didn't properly setup hpoj. I was
getting extra entries until I ran:
/etc/init.d/hpoj setup

A lot of inexperienced users throw some pretty crappy bug reports onto the
cooker list. We don't have enough info to figure it out, and Mandrake people
