Hi
It fails when I try to deselect vim-x or vim-enhanced. Is it intended by vi-fans? :-)
It says something like 'it cannot be a base package' or the like, I didn't have a
chance to memorize it.

Hi All,
It's all said in $subject. I performed the 'customized' install, and
upon the first (and the last for now) reboot it said

Hi All,
I see that during the 'customized' install it shows a comprehensive list
of printers, which ghostscript supports. If the menu, which frustrated
me last time, appeares only in the 'expert' install, that's fine. (The
expert was warned...)
But I report it anyway because I do not know the
Hi
Yesterday I again tried the latest beta, and was again surprised with
the printer config menu: "Text printer| HP DJ | Postscript". It would
frustrate even an experienced user. What if I have an HP LJ?!
Of course, printtool and *drak* work, but what is the intent of that
installation menu? I
Hi
I see that while rpm's of the MDK beta get renewed almost every day, the
diskette images remain the same about a month. Do I overlook something?

Hi
I understand that it is an offtopic _here_, but whome else would I ask.
I cannot recompile the mdk kernel in 7.0. It issues many diagnostics,
e.g. 'smp_something_cpu' constant not found in a header. Do I
understand correctly, that nobody of Mandrake users tried to recompile
the kernel?

Hmm.
But I still cannot work with X 3.3.6 immediately after installation, it
misses some libraries. Last try was yesterday. I wouldn't consider it as
final in any sense.

Hi All,
I installed the latest version, in the expert mode, but with all default settings. It
couldn't configure X at the installation stage (i810), though the kernel module was
loaded ok.

Hi
Is/Will $subject be supported by Mandrake 7.1?
Thank you in advance

Hi All,
What is the sound support in Mandrake 7.1? Is it based on the latest
ALSA, which claims to support $Subject? Sounddrake didn't seem to know
about this card. I compiled and installed the latest alsa, but it
rejected to play anything, saying it cannot do something important with

Hi,
I didn't yet try this in 7.1, but in 7.0 it drove me crazy: why the
'secure' kernel, which I'd like to use because of its name ;-) is ONLY
SMP? There are still issues with SMP in Linux, and on a UP machine it's
at least a bit slower and less stable anyway. I tried to recompile it as

Hi,
My eyes quickly get tired of the videomode of the graphic installer, so
I tried the text-mode one. I see however that it lacks some
functionality of the former. E.g. in the expert mode the individual
package selection became impossible, it also seems to ignore my
'large-scale' selection.
