When installing Mandrake 9, the installer hangs during
package installation.
The motherboard has an SiS 730S chipset, including the 5513
IDE controller.
Booting with ide=nodma allows installation to succeed.
After installation, ide=nodma is needed to prevent further
hangs.

Just installed 8.2, a few problems came up.
1) I set my color depth to 32bpp during the install - when I rebooted the
display was set to 8bpp. Not a big problem really.
2) Does 8.2 contain the NVIDIA drivers? If so, it didn't configure them for
my card (TNT2 Ultra).

I tried installing 8.2 on my shiny new Promise Ultra100 TX2
card, which uses the PDC20268 chip. It hangs at the detecting
partitions stage. I think this may have been fixed in the -ac
series, with patches from Promise themselves.
