RpmDrake in cooker has a link error in librpm.so.?0 gpio
the unixODBC rpm in cooker doesn't contain any of the GUI tools that come
with unixODBC,
as I can't tell a odbc.ini from my elbow I'm sure a lot of other mandrake
users can't.
could the GUI/configuration tools be put into a separate RPM for those that
want them, and those that are console all the
I tried an ftp install of cooker at the weekend,
the only problems I had were,
Couldn't specify a netmask when setting up the network card.
Couldn't do an anonymous logon with no password.
also the list of available files(can't remember the name of the file), was
being downloaded a lot.

I've been off of work for a couple of days so here's a beta3 bug report.
sorry if there are any repeats of other peoples comments here.
Things that didn't work.

information, this problem corrected it's self if I d
:Have you used "Use hard drive optimisations (may cause data :corruption)"

the only option I selected was clean \tmp at boot as i wsan't sure how much
of a may there was in may cause data corruption

Diskdrake 7.2 (not 7.1 /7.0 they work fine) appears to have a problem
detecting partitions when my dvd drive is pluged in.
eg
hda = 20gb ibm
hdb = dvd drive
hdc = 20gb ibm
hdd = ide cd-rw
hda will fail to detect (bad magic number in partition table)
when i do
hda = 20gb ibm
hdb = ide cd-rw

how do I move etc to a different partition and let the kernel know where all
the init stuff is?.
as I want etc as reiserfs.
I have managed to move var and home fine, but when I try to move etc the
kernel? can't find the init stuff and asks for a run level.
I think nt created the second extended partition table.

table, it's too corrupt for me :(
i'll try to go on blanking bad partitions
more than one extended partition.
(so i'm going to kill it)...

mandrake 7.1's diskdrake failed to recognise my partition information and
appeared to wipe out the partition table. (at lease it was empty when i next
rebooted)
after a bit of playing about with findpart and editpart (for dos) i have

I've never managed to download the crypto packages @install, and mandrake
update is problematic.
could this be that I can't use passive ftp, and don't have a reverse dns
entry.
(firewalls being what they are).

i know it's only beta but how about the g400 driver for xfree4.1,
ftp://ftp.matrox.com/pub/mga/archive/linux/2000/beta/
with a few people using it in the 7.2 betas &co, they may be able to get a
stable release out intime for 7.2
