Do you startx on boot or with the command startx?
If you use the command you might look in /etc/sysconfig/desktop and
see if a line has been added "DESKTOP=KDE" or "DESKTOP=GNOME" which
ever you boot to. If so remove the "DESKTOP=" part. I had this
happen the last time I upgraded.

Well at the work test machine I am still unable to access the CD-ROM
drives. Same errors as I reported before.
Adaptec 2940UW card with a Plextor 40x CD-Rom Drive scsi ID 3 and
Plexstor CD-RW Drive scsi ID 4.

I applied today updates to my cooker install and my X quit working.
After looking around a bit I found that one of the updates changed
the /etc/sysconfig/desktop file. It changed it so that the file had
the line Desktop=GNOME. I changed this back to just GNOME and then
X starte

I am getting a poping noise at the start of playing wavs or mp3s. I
worked with the developers fn the opensource creative drivers to
remove this but it I guess the alsa developers haven't tried to fix
this.

There seems to be a problem with the X Configuration...
Under windows I can set my Radeon AIW to 1600x1200 at 32 bit color,
but under X, I can only set it at 1280x1024 at 32 bit or 1600x1200 at
16 bit max.

Well tried doing a clean install again via FTP (DrakX 1.392, FTP

I was having this problem the way I fixed it was to go into all
directories for truetype fonts and edit the fonts.dir to change all
the -ascii-0 iso-8859-1 this fixed the problem for me.

but it wouldn't compile with the 2.96 gcc. How do you force it to use
