Just a quick note here as I'm trying to get thru some cooker/ppc testing

If someone wants to grab the mdkinst_stage2.bz2 and kick off an ftp
install (or do it from the mirror) and verify the gui-old and/or
force-fbdev are working to get a GUI install, that would be great.
You don't need to do a whole install, unless you want to, just verify the

force-fb
gui-old is fixed and force-fbdev option is available and tested, I'll

How did you boot the install? The "Read-only file system" is the issue
above - no modules are loading.
Did you specify kernel-options "root=/dev/ram3" and
"ramdisk_size=36000"
(after selecting the right kernel & initrd)?
Thanks for the hint... adding "root=/dev/ram3" did it. (RTFM?) But I

I haven't tried a full install on my PowerBook G4 Ti 867MHz yet because
I'm still downloading CD 2 and 3, but the graphical installer comes up
with both the benh and mdk kernels and seems to work well (and look
great - much better that the old one!).
I can however already report that it doesn't
