Hi John - If this problem occurs primarily when you have maps loaded, you may also try reducing the Map Radius and Sampling Rate in Edit Preferences Maps Map Parameters. I've also found that enabling the Dynamic Map Sampling and Display Size options speed things up somewhat if you need to
