Yarema,
I would like to add that both mail/courier-37.0 and 37.2 versions
have worked perfectly right out of the box and have converted an
installation that could have been measured in hours or days into a
task that is measured in minutes, even on a first time install as
mine was. I install
Jamie,
Did you get an answer to these questions? I'm having the same problem.
I am pretty sure that I am reading the man page wrong and not naming the
list correctly. If you have solved it, would you please let me know what
you did.
Thanks,

I'm using courier 37.2 with ldap very, very happily. I am going to start
using virtual users w/ virtual domains and I thought that it might be
possible to configure them without using the full email address as the uid

I was just thinking of that yesterday and if it could be combined with

Does netstat -s show a smtp process Listening?
# netstat -a | grep smtp

If so you should be able to telnet it.

Have you thought about just installing the complete courier-0.37.2.20020125
as an integrated solution? I just installed it a couple of weeks ago and
am very glad I did. I wouldn't want to go back to different programs
for each piece of the puzzle.

I assume that you have run
# [localcourierbinpath]/esmtpd start
If you don't get any errors it should be working. Try your netstat -a
again after running/rerunning esmtpd start.

Greg,
I was just looking at that yesterday. I was wondering the same thing.
We seem to be receiving more and more spam on our machines.
I would like to use it to block incoming spam.
Please let me know if you do get it to work.
Thanks,

I am using courier because it is an integrated solution, easy to configure,
easy to upgrade, very good LDAP integration and IMO, has a very logical
way of handling vdomains, mailing lists, etc.

Theodore,
The configuration file has the following comments:
##NAME: LDAP_MAILDIR:0
#
# The MAILDIR attribute is OPTIONAL, and specifies the location of the
# mail directory. If not specified, ./Maildir will be used
I think that explains it better than I.
