Hello,
I've got something strange here: Maildelivery to local accounts works
when using the sendmail command but fails when sending them via smtp.
If I place an empty .courier-default file into /etc/courier/aliasdir
mails will be delivered via smtp to local accounts. When I remove the

Use SpamAssassin for qualifying mail as spam. You can then filter it. If you need help
integrating Spamassassin with Courier just send an e-mail to my address.

You can create the file /etc/courier/locallowercase.
Courier then handels all recipients case-insensitive.

Further make sure that you don't have $mail set in userdb. If $mail ist set, courier
directly delivers into the Maildir and does not invoke maildrop.

You have to define defaultdomain in couriers sysconfdir (echo mydomain.com >

Of course you can change postmaster to any address you'd like to receive

If your domain is defined in locals you have to remove the @domain part of
your username. To use the @domain part is only necessary for domains listed
in hosteddomains not in locals.

Hello,
I encountered the following problem:
A provider offers the virtual hostauth.smtp.kundenserver.defor
authenticated smtp.
This hostname may refer to different physical hosts. A reverse lookup shows
a different hostname like e.g. mrelayng.kundenserver.de.
The file esmtpauthclient nee
I had this effect until Courier 0.37.1. The current release doesn't show
this effect. However I "just" have 100 - 200 messages in my inbox. I'm using

Well, it's a pity that Hotmail doesn't fix this. But I have recognized that

goes through.

Hello out there,
has any body implemented Spam Blocking List to reject e-mail from known
spammers, open relays or sockservers?
Any hint or link would be nice.
Thanks in advance

Hello out there,
right at the moment I got stuck configuring courier to use maildrop for
default delivery.

i need to set up some special routing instructions for courier. At the

Have you run "makesmtpaccess" after editing smtpaccess ?
Have you enabled ipv6? Check the maillog in order to see if the blocked
addresses are noted as ipv6. If ipv6 is enabled you have to do your entries
in smtpaccess also as ipv6. Or you rebuild courier without ipv6 support.

There is a Perl script called amavis (www.amavis.org) for virusscanning. You need an
external virus scanner to get it working. I don't know if it's possible to use it with
courier. But I think it's worth a try.

Hello out there,
there's a lot of discussion about the 8-bit-headers in courier going on for several
months now. When I first got into contact with Courier I also thought that it is a bit
hard to check the RFCs so strictly. But in the meantime I totally agree to Sam that it
