I think Alex is exactly right - Jan (and Sept) are just times of
renewal when people think about starting new things. Although we
don't get any students, we have a lot of moms who work part-time, and
that group definitely seeks us out in the September time-frame as
their kids head back to school
Statistically, people search for office space (of any kind) in January
more than in any other time of year, so the surge is normal. I was
more interested if anyone has seen anything recession-specific.

My intuition tells me that it's something like the "I'm going to go the gym"

Just because my marketing mind wants to know, what do you attribute
the surge in January and September to? Are there specific events that
lend to the surge twice a year? My initial guess would be school
related, but I can't imagine that students are your core clientèle.

We've typically seen a surge every January and September for the past

Yes, we saw a January surge followed by a Feb dip. Given the types of
inquiries this month though, I see a March surge.
