Hey Guys,
Thought I'd weigh in on this one as a professional painting contractor for
over 25 years. I added the "dry erase paint" option into my portfolio to
market to my customer base as a specialty coating, it has been a nice value
add to my business, and a lucrative one at that. To date I ha
Over here we tried both the paint and vinil stickers. We got a good
contractor to give us a big roll of vinyl and those where very cheap. We
did a whole wall for around 300USD. It's also great because you can print
of top of it. Our events calendar is one big sheet and it looks great. We

I find the clear boards easier to keep looking clean than a trad white
board. Windex and a paper towel does wonders. You will have issues with the
dry erase "dust" getting on the surrounding walls and falling to the
carpet. You could build a simple frame around the clear board to offset

@Tom-I agree. We're still using a little kids Ikea chalkboard easel for our
events. I switched to liquid chalk pens and really like the opacity of them.

We painted a bunch of walls in our space with chalkboard. People can use
them for brainstorming and we also have our "community calendar" on one
wall and encourage people to write in events or notes. We also used it
to brand the space.
We looked at the whiteboard paint but it was CRAZY expensi
Ooh neat! How hard is it to keep them clean? And do you have carpet in your
space?

At Workantile, we have shifted to old-fashioned chalkboards. They are
relatively inexpensive, chalk is relatively inexpensive, and they are
easier to clean. If you leave dry erase marker on a whiteboard for a long
period of time, it can get difficult to erase. That is never an issue with
chalk.

Reviving this old thread as I take the Cohere blog back to the basics. I
finally wrote down the step by step instructions for making your own
clear/whiteboards.

Thank you all for your valuable input. I'm leaning towards whiteboard
paint as a whole wall solution but will probably also try the lexan in
another room. (might put a background color behind it so the markers
show up better.) I'll post pictures once I make a decesion, thanks

We just did 150 sq ft in IdeaPaint. Love it! It was a bit expensive
but in evaluating the other options, this gave us what we were looking
for.

We used Ideapaint for 100 square feet. The wall needs to be perfectly
smooth, then if you use the primer they recommend you need to sand again.
It works great and people love it. (pic #2 - http://indieballard.com)

John: I bought 9 cans of Rustoleum Whiteboard and 9 of the Magnetic

We had one can of each and last night started painting a corner of the

Hi all,
We opted for ideapaint in our main conference room at Two Rivers. about
$200 for the 50 sq ft. box.
We painted one conference room. the key is to sand the walls thoroughly.
will look into the clear board for the other conference room. thanks for
the ideas all!

Chris- yeah, people think that clear boards are ultra-chic. It was
sort of a happy design accident. I'm thrifty as all get out but people
think they are high-end!

We have clear DIY boards at Cohere. We bought the Lexan (clear plexi)
in large sheets wholesale, cut them ourselves and attach to wall with
cheap silver hardware. A large board 8'x4' probably cost about $40
