and "table" just gives me a gazillion links to 1990's tutorials that use
a 3x3 table for rounded corners.

IE7 *still* shows the float in the wrong place. I actually have
to remove it for *all* browsers, or delete the dot.jpg (and let the
list-style-image 404) in order to get it right in IE7.
Does anyone have any clue what's going on here?
