For anyone who may have worked on this - I apologize.
I did what I always preach - after I sent my email. I tried
validating the html and css. (Thought I had already done that.) And
the small errors - which seemed irrelevant - fixed the problem.

I believe that what you are referring to is officially Position:fixed
under CSS which naturally is not supported by IE. Evidently they have
their own proprietary version of it. Hopefully this will change with
IE7.

in Safari and Firefox.
There are many IE6 errors documented at http://
www.positioniseverything.net/explorer.html (an excellent resource -
the whole site not just that set of pages).

Many thanks. That nailed it. (But I'm sure you knew that.) So now I'm
back to reading up on z-index positioning.
