I am almost certain this is not problem with cygwin or the cygwin X server
running in your windows computer. I have used Matlab startup options
'matlab' (start Matlab with new GUI window and show Matlab logo)
'matlab -nosplash' (start Matlab with new GUI window, don't show logo)

I have not run cygwin for a long while on my win98. I think the only real use
I have had of the dll was with clamav. I usually scan the windows from by
Debian boot. However, keeping a win9* dll available for such applications is
desirable I think.

I have tried just about everything to get the LS_COLORS to work but they just
don't seem to have any effect.
I have added an export script to my .bashrc that uses dircolors, and even
echoing $LS_COLORS confirms the correct values, but if I ls, the colors are
all wrong.

On all the servers on which there is a freeze problems with Cygwin
custom compiled programs, there is the Symantec Corporate Antivirus
version 9.0.0.338.
bash scripts are running well with any AV version. The problem was
