Keyboard does not work with JDS 3.0 (Gnome @ Solaris 10)

the error, when I start Xwin locally (Xwin :0 -xkblayout ch -clipboard -screen 0 1024x768) and then SSH connect to the box and start gnome-settings-daemon. When I use Exceed (installed on a different PC), I do NOT get this XKB error. Any idea what might be causing this problem? Cheers, Alexander
