Have you tried 'mount -h'?
It shows an option to change the cygdrive.
I've always used that. In regards to the cygdrive
prefix I thought the results of changing the prefix with
the 'mount' command were recorded in /etc/fstab --
and that it wasn't the source of the direction...?

Somehow in the newer rsyncs (at least 3.1.0 and 3.0.9),
"xattr" support has accidently been disabled.
Could this util be respun w/xattrs turned back on?

I have my cygprefix set to '/' (normally) and everything
works from there.

we were '32 bit only)..
but when I am in *Explorer", I had an option to open a bash shell
at the current location.
I modified that slightly to give 2 options bash32
