I'm afraid you're confusing program code with file formats.
I do think that in the future some quantum thingy will be able to display
today's data if it is properly documented - cf. the hyroglyphs. If you don't
believe that, you have to print paper images and keep them in a

Prior to digital photography I printed photographs for a living. Now we have
gone digital, the world prints very few photographs. I agree that RAW files may
be problematic in a hundred years. JPG and Tiff files might be less of a
problem, but the media they are stored on may be a problem. I pers

C++ or Python.
The only solution is to periodically copy the data into the then current
and popular format. File formats have a short life, measu
Thanks all, I was really not trying to spread anything :)
As you will be able to sense, I am pretty new at this and while I am still not
sure how to do any of what has mentioned below, it has given me a good place to
start googling :)
Thanks again

If this is true for commercial software it is not for free software. For
one thing, the code is open and anyone will be able to read old raw with
darktable or any free software. So please do not spread fear and unfounded
problems.

Hi
I was just wondering if there was something I could do to correct the issue
described here: https://github.com/darktable-org/darktable/issues/10072 i.e.
the white balance does not load correctly for GoPro HERO10 RAW files with the
images displaying as purple.
I have got a work around i.e. c
and for this there is the raw.pixls.us database to provide freely available
samples of each and any file as long as the owner of the camera cooperates and
provides samples.
There is no way the developers buy each and any camera ...
Btw: DNG is *not* a *free* format. It's owned by Adobe.

This is a general note, something for developers and photographers to
consider...
What will be the fate of digital images stored in any non-destructive RAW
image database like Darktable or even the old Apple Aperture or Adobe
Lightroom? When my grandmother passed away we found 100+ year old photo

Sorry to butt in but...

I am in the same boat - I use crop and rotate together all the time.
However - I do see the reasoning for separating them and it was a bit
going back and forth before when I had to apply both perspective and crop.
One suggestion however (not sure if it is possible).
Is it doable at all - that
