When I enable the lens correction plugin on an individual photo, it picks
up the focal length and aperture from the metadata. However, I haven't

Looking at the new Intel Haswell processors, it seems that it's new AVX2
extension can be particularly helpful for graphics processing. For example:

I think this problem has 'always' been there to some extent. A couple of
years ago on a version lost in the sands of time (probably 0.9 or so) I tried
spot removal on a picture from the Camargue with about 2000 flies needing
removal from the sky which rapidly realised the limitations of dt's

I don't think you need that. I bet only removing the pictures and
reimporting will do. The cache above is the local copy of the images, if
you don't have local copies it will just do *n
