The luminosity IS linear, at least in case of graduated density.
Reason: The module position in the pipeline is before "base curve".
Therefore, it operates on linear sensor data, the same applies to the
parametric mask.
IMHO it would be nice to be able to toggle the parametric sliders
between line
I too have been playing with this but cannot seem to get the "display mask"
feature to work. The luminosity scale also seems far from linear.

Something new (to me):
I find that using the graduated density module, with the control line
set high on the image in conjunction with a parametric blend to exclude
the light cloud values works well on color and particularly well on B/W.
