I compiled Linux 2.6.33 with default davinci configuration for my DVM 6446. I
am trying to run a gqview but it gives me the message that /dev/fb/0 is not
found?

Try after this:
$mkdir -p /dev/fb
$ln -s /dev/fb0 /dev/fb/0
