The existing DM355 does not support NAND devices with 4K page sizes. As an
unrecognized device, the identification should default to assuming a 2K page
size with 64 pages/block. I would assume that the UBL was not read correctly
due to the page layout. I am surprised, though, that this did
The UBL and NAND programmer in the PSP_01_20 package reads the device id from
the NAND device and uses an internal lookup to decode a device id of 0xD3 as a
MT29F16G08QAA NAND device.
The MT29F16G08QAA and MT29F16G08DAA both use 0xD3; but have different device
charactoristics. In particular,
Normally that error indicates that more than 4 errors were found in a 512 byte
sector of the NAND device, so that the ECC could not fix all errors.

The utility should work under either Windows or Linux. If run under Linux, it
requires that Mono be installed. There have been a few reports of problems
using it under some versions of Linux when a USB to Serial adaptor is used
instead of a serial port.

The DM355 RBL supports boot from SD card. The issue is that the UBL
distributed as part of the PSP only supports NAND.If the UBL source were
modified to read from the SD card, there is no reason that everything could
come from the SD card.

I'm a bit less sure why the RBL can't load u-boot directly.. I think
I worked it out at some point, it's because the RBL can only load something
that fits into one block, or something like that. The TI UBL is just a little
bit of glue between RBL and u-boot, as I understand it.
The UBL
The RBL on silicon revision 1.1 of the DM355 supports NAND flash devices with
pagesizes of 512 + 16 bytes and 2048 + 64 bytes. It does not support 4096+128
bytes.

You are correct. The RBL on the DM355 cannot boot from SDHC.

Hi Steve,
The following program may help you. It is a prlgram which will flash
the DM355 Flash through the RS232 port.
