To the best of my knowledge, all mirrors have both the german and
english version available for download. In fact, they only differ by the
"lang=en" boot option in isolinux.cfg/syslinux.cfg.

Knoppix with ADRIANE sounds just like what I need, however I am not finding an
English download location.
Also trying to figure out how to use knoppix from a flash drive. I have seen
discussion of using the --flash-knoppix option, but don't know what that
references.

I'd recommend using one of the primary (first listed) mirrors for
download, since I don't check the others frequently.
One thing I forgot to mention: In Knoppix 8.6.0, the 32bit kernel is
somewhat broken (needs to limit memory by mem=800), so rather use boot
option

If I download and install that, two essentials anyone spends money on a
computer are nethack and surfraw. If those two are installable or
already installed, we're golden.

I tried using one of the mirror links to download http knoppix dvd which
is listed as being in the United States and got dropped onto the knoppix
news rss page. The page of course came up in German. Let's see if my
clipboard still has that url:
