Yes, I believe that Windows sets the system clock to the local
timezone. There might be a windows setting to stop this, but if there
isn't, try regedit in the run dialog (or command prompt...). If
searching there yields no results, then your next best bet would be to
see if Linux can accept that
most likely windows is asuming your clock is set to local time
and debian is assuming its set to gmt (or other)

Yes, actually I was reinstalling the entire system because KDE freaked
out and the error log ate the remaining 23 gig

This is a small problem, so I think it's okay that I annoy the amd64
list with this. I just reinstalled Debian and have just installed KDE
via aptitude. However, I'm still in text mode. I've tried
