I was experiencing the very same problem, but just telling CUPS to use
the new splix ppd did solve it. I used the web interface for that
(http://localhost:631/admin/?op=modify-printerprinter_name=replace-by-your-printer_s-name).
Difficult to say that this is a bug, I am not familiar with

On a Debian sid system on AMD64, with the splix package, I've started
getting this error message for a printer that was previously working
fine with this set up:
Samsung (Default Printer) Filter rastertospl2 for printer Samsung not
available: No such file or directory
Are others using this
