Hello
I have exactly same behavior yesterday on this netbook. I suppose the
problem is with the graphical mode which grub is trying to initialize.
The graphics chipset is Poulsbo - it is even wrong handled by xorg

Hi,
I recently did a squeeze install with read-only / and /usr and found a
few minor glitches:
* ifupdown installed without /dev/shm mounted
* /etc/mtab not a link to /proc/mounts
* /etc/fstab lists the device for proc as proc, system says none,
mounting local filesystems gives error

This is a 'me too' report...
When installing beta 1 on a machine with Windows 7 it told me that it
had found Windows Vista during the the grub install; but on first boot,
only Debian was shown in the grub menu. An 'update-grub' under Debian
added Windows 7 to the grub menu.

Hi,
I have attached patches which I believe fix the problem; it requires the
min_size function to know which type of partitioning is being done (lvm or
default), which requires a few changes to other places than might be at first
obvious.
