I have worked around this problem. I observed it does
not happend when one rlogins to another node. I then rlogged in to my same
node and set the display back. I can now run the shell in xemacs. Yes the
problem does not occur at all when one issues a single shell command.

This bug is not localization-config's fault. As it is, l-c is not
installed when user chooses 'English' language at installation, so
there will be no localization configuration afterwards.
If you need localization configuration select a language other than
