APT version 0.6.46.3-0.2 is still segfaulting for any operation I try to
use it. In fact, it even failed to build from source on my system
(Architecture is i386). Attached is a patch tha fixes the FTBFS and the
segmentation faults. With this patch applied, it seems to work fine,
now.
Could you send me this patch? I think it may too late to include the
fix for etch, we're already quite far in the release process. But it's
a bug to fix anyway.
Here is the corresponding patch. There were just two lines to remove.

I wrote the bug while installing and was a bit quick. As it turns out
later during install the german dictionary gets installed and it asks
again what dictionary should be default.
So the package selection works fine. It just shouldn't ask I think. Or
at least only ask once.

to have normal width DejaVu fonts back. Just updating ttf-dejavu
